How can I live in England?
“England” is one constituent country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Within the British Isles is also found the Republic of Ireland as well as the Crown dependencies of Man and the Channel Isles. The Republic of Ireland is a sovereign independent nation-state although falls within the Common Travel Area. Great Britain comprises England and Wales (which have mainly the same laws and legal practices) and Scotland with its own legal system. By and large the laws, rules and policies that govern immigration to England apply actually also to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland i.e. are UK-wide. Therefore, living in “England” is a matter of applying to enter the UK under the relevant Immigration Rules (or else for a time entering the UK under European Community rights).
